Gluten-free travel can feel overwhelming. I understand, it stinks to get glutened especially when you are on vacation. Below is our segment on 3TV we did discussing gluten-free travel. I’ve also broken it down into some easy to read tips to remember. Remember, you can make vacations a wonderful experience. It may just take a bit of extra planning.

Be prepared: Always be prepared with snacks and meals. I LOVE my Six Pack Bags (Renee is in red below and the Innovator 300 is light blue. The bright blue is the Vixen bag.) and highly recommend them. Really though, any bag or cooler will work. Bring bars that are easy to toss in a purse as well as some things like gluten-free bread and maybe ice cream cones that you may not be able to find in your destination. You can even take oats that can easily be made in your hotel room using hot water from the coffee pot. If you are prone to tummy troubles, be sure you have your Redmond Clay or activated charcoal with you as well. Always drink lots of water and when in doubt, don’t eat something you don’t know what it contains.

Search apps and sites: There are so many great apps out there to make your travel easier. Find Me Gluten Free and Can I Eat Here? are great! The Gluten Free Travel site can help in many ways from planning to being in your destination.

Seek out local gluten-free bloggers: I love trying to find local bloggers in places I will be traveling. They often know the “secret gems” of local gluten-free dining. In addition, you could make a great new gfree friend!

Call ahead & make reservations: When we went to Disneyworld we had to do this SIX MONTHS before our trip. Yep, that’s right, some places book that far out and Disneyworld restaurants are some of them. I highly recommend researching where you would like to eat then getting a reservation asap.
